Statement of Purpose
My name is Ethan Samels, and I am currently a freshman enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have always wanted to go to UMD since I was a child, so it is awesome to finally be a student here. I am from Hunt Valley, Maryland, where I attended Dulaney High School. In high school, I was involved in clubs such as Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society, which provided me with experiences that developed both professional and life skills. Now that I am a part of the Media, Self, and Society Scholars program at UMD, I hope to learn even more valuable skills that can be applied to my major and to life in general. I look forward to making new friends within the scholars community, learning more about the role of media in society, and taking away valuable information from guest speakers during class. Ultimately, I would love for my scholars experience to compliment my major and help me prepare for my future career.
